John P. Keeney, CRPC®, CRPS®

President and founder of Keeney Financial Group, John Keeney has worked extensively in the field of financial management since 1987 and holds the designations of Certified Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) and Certified Retirement Plan Specialist (CRPS®). His hard work and diligence were recognized early in his career, having been named Top Producer at Signet Financial Services in 1996, and being selected to act as the only dually employed member of Signet’s trust department while continuing to act as Vice President and Registered Principal for Signet Financial Services. That trend has continued throughout his career, as he was named to the Baltimore Business Journal’s “40 under 40” list in 2001, was recently recognized as a Top 100 Advisor in Financial Advisor magazine in 2008, where he was ranked by assets under management, and he is often quoted in regional business publications. With this vast experience, he has acquired a valuable contact base in the legal, accounting and financial communities. This network has proven extremely valuable to clients in need of custom credit, drafting of documents and specialized legal and tax work.

Acting upon his strong beliefs on the importance of family and giving back to the community, John enjoys coaching youth sports, participating in various community outreach programs and cherishes the time he spends with his family. John and his wife, Elissa, have been married since July 1993 and have three children, Carolyn, Nathan and Brian.

Donald W. Ferguson, Jr., RIS, Vice President

Donald Ferguson joined Keeney Financial Group as a Wealth Advisor in 1998 and holds the designation of Retirement Income Specialist (RIS). Don, a Maryland native, has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore. In addition to his business degree, he also holds FINRA Series 6, 7, 24, and 63 registrations. Don began his financial services career in 1989 serving as an Officer and Investment Counselor for Signet Bank and Signet Financial Services, and later a Personal Investment Counselor for First Union Brokerage Services. In this capacity, he was responsible for assisting the bank’s high net worth clients in the areas of investment and estate planning. His responsibilities include client consulting and financial management for asset accumulation and wealth preservation.

Don and his wife, Cheryl, have been married since April 1995 and enjoy spending time with their two grandchildren, Vincent and Noel. Don is actively involved with Carroll County Cub Scouting and youth recreational baseball and spends weekends with friends and family at the beach.

Lena Nebel, MSFS, CFP®

Lena Nebel has been a Wealth Advisor at Keeney Financial Group since 2003 and also serves as the firm’s Director of Financial Planning. Lena graduated from York College of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science and received her CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER^TM Certification at the American College. In addition to a financial planning career that began in 1998, Lena also holds FINRA Series 7 and 65 registrations. Her passion for the financial planning community is demonstrated through her commitment to the Maryland Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, where she was awarded the 2005 Leadership Award, served on the board of directors, and became the chapter’s first female president in 2007.

Lena and her husband, Joe, have been married since April 2005 and have a daughter, Sophie. In her free time, Lena enjoys socializing with family and friends and spending time on her newly found passion for golf.
